Opening of the permanent exhibition "Rainier III. The Prince and the Mediterranean".
From December 6, 2023

"The Prince and the Mediterranean": a space dedicated to Prince Rainier III's actions to protect the ocean.
A totally redesigned space at the heart of the "Monaco and the Ocean" exhibition to commemorate the centenary of Prince Rainier III.
The "Monaco and the Ocean" exhibition room retraces, over nearly 700m2, the commitment of the Princes of Monaco to the protection of the marine world. Around a 27-metre long scenic ship, the tour takes visitors on an immersive and interactive journey through time, alongside committed sovereigns who were aware of the major issues of their time: Albert I, Rainier III and H.S.H. Prince Albert II.
The Oceanographic Institute is carrying out a complete scenographic redesign of the space dedicated to Prince Rainier III. The completely redesigned space will highlight the actions of the Head of State committed to the protection of the ocean, both nationally (creation of marine reserves) and internationally (mobilization against the dumping of nuclear waste in the Mediterranean, creation of the IAEA Marine Environment Laboratory, RAMOGE agreement, Pelagos...).
An attractive presentation of the contents will allow the visitor to discover how the actions initiated by Prince Rainier III are, even today, more than ever topical and will still contribute tomorrow to the protection of the Mediterranean and the richness of its biodiversity.
