The long tradition of artistic patronage led by the Princes of Monaco continues under the reign of Prince Rainier III. Under his impetus, from 1987 to 2004, the Principality of Monaco hosted the International Sculpture Festival of Monte Carlo . During this period, at the Prince's request, the Government acquired some of the works exhibited during this event and installed them, in a permanent manner, in the Principality's public space. Over the years, commissions and donations have enriched this collection. Today, it constitutes a patrimonial route through the different districts of the city, with more than two hundred works and fountains by eclectic artists.
A heritage trail, featuring several hundred artists' works and fountains, winds its way through the city's various districts. Over 150 sculptures are on display in the streets and gardens of the Principality.
By flashing the QR code next to each sculpture, you can access details on the specific history of the work, its creator and its relationship to the Principality.
An interactive map positions these sculptures and, provided you have enabled geolocation on your phone, guides you to the next sculpture.
