Rainier III sur les pas de Sainte-Dévote" exhibition in Lucciana
The Musée de Site Archéologique de Mariana - Prince Rainier III de Monaco, governed by the City of Lucciana and located near Bastia-Poretta airport, is taking part in the commemoration of the centenary of the birth of Prince Rainier III. From November 24, 2023 to September 22, 2024, the exhibition "Rainier III, in the footsteps of Sainte Dévote" pays tribute to the sovereign's attachment to Lucciana, the birthplace and deathplace of Sainte Dévote, patron saint of the Principality and of Corsica.
On June 9, 2003, on the occasion of Pentecost, and at the dawn of a year-long celebration of the 1700th anniversary of the young woman's martyrdom, Prince Rainier III and Hereditary Prince Albert joined the faithful on pilgrimage. This special day has remained engraved in the collective memory of Corsicans and Monegasques alike.
The scenography, inspired by the Saint's journey by boat from Corsica to Monaco, presents works and souvenirs that bear witness to this moment of communion. The exhibition takes place twenty years after this major religious event, which forged strong ties between Monaco and Lucciana.
