Presentation of the €50 gold coin in tribute to Prince Rainier III
November 2 to 5, 2023
Monaco's Musée des Timbres et des Monnaies is offering for sale a €50 gold coin bearing the effigy of Prince Rainier III.
The celebration of the centenary of the birth of Prince Rainier III, who was, among other things, the restorer of the Monegasque currency and the architect of the Principality's admission to the Euro zone, fully justified the issue of an exceptional commemorative and collector coin in the noblest of metals, gold.
Until now, only €100, €20 and €10 gold coins had been issued by the Principality since the creation of the Euro in 2002. The €50 coin, which is part of the series, had not yet been minted. For this reason, it was felt appropriate to reserve it for the centenary of Prince Rainier III's birth, giving the event a special sparkle by depicting the Prince at two significant moments in his life.
This coin will be on sale at the Musée des Timbres et des Monnaies from November 2, 2023 at 3pm.
